Michael Müller
was born in Günzburg on the Donau. He studied the cello at the Musikhochschule in München and at the Academy of Arts in Berlin, participating in master classes with Boris Pergaminschikov, David Geringas and Heinrich Schiff.
He trained as a chamber musician with Walter Levine from the Lasalle Quartet, with the Amadeus Quartet and, like the other quartet members, with Sándor Vegh.
In 1977 he founded a string quartet and won in 1980 the first prize in the national "Jugend musiziert” competition in Germany.
In 1987 he became principal cellist with the Kammerphilharmonie in Frankfurt, and in 1995 with the Dutch Radio Chamber Orchestra.
His appearances include frequent performances as a soloist and as a chamber musician across Europe, as well as taking part in numerous renowned international festivals.
He plays on a cello by Januarius Gagliano (Napoli 1734), made available by the National Instrument Foundation.
